Gaylene Stokes Greener
February 16, 1959 - May 12, 2025
After living a full and blessed life, Gaylene Stokes Greener, 66, passed peacefully from this mortal life, surrounded by her family and returned to her loving Heavenly Father on Monday, May 12, 2025. Her passing comes as a result of compounding complications of cancer. Born February 16, 1959, in Provo, Utah, Gaylene was the third of nine children of Gordon Ellis Stokes and ReNae Ashby Stokes. As the oldest daughter, Gaylene always had high expectations for herself and what she wanted her life to be.
Gaylene was sealed to her eternal companion, Fred Lee Greener, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 20, 1979. Married for 46 years, Gaylene and Fred raised six children together. She was a constant support to Fred and her children. They were her life's greatest treasures.
Growing up with two older brothers, Gaylene learned to be tough and tenacious at an early age. She pursued her desires with vigor and determination. Through her determination, she made many of her dreams become reality. One of those dreams is the house and home she and Fred built together. This 30+ year labor of love became her family's haven and sanctuary, just as she had always dreamed it would be. Her creativity also led to interests in sewing, writing, design, and gardening. She used these talents to bring beauty to her own life and to others'.
That same determination and tenacity helped her overcome fears and anxieties to befriend countless people. Many acquaintances, friends, and family describe her as their ray of sunshine. She made it her mission to spread love and kindness to everyone she met. Her love of God and Jesus Christ was always her motivation. She made conscious efforts to see Their works in her life and taught others to do the same. This sustained her through her cancer diagnosis and treatments. She also found strength by emulating Christ and focusing on the needs of others.
Gaylene could not have endured as long or as well as she did without the miracles from above that were afforded her. Many of these miracles came in the form of the medical staff that oversaw her treatment and care. She was continuously filled with awe and gratitude for her nurses, doctors, fellow patients, and many, many others.
Gaylene cherished her family and is survived by her devoted husband, Fred, and her six
children: Natalie and Jason Bradford, Brittiny Greener, Devin Greener, Todd and Lindsay
Greener, Troy and Camree Greener, and Tess and Zach Nielsen; along with 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Ellis Stokes and ReNae Ashby Stokes.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Corinne LDS Church House, 2335 N 4000 W, Corinne, Utah.
