Gene Arthur Dares, son of Doreen Onkalo and predeceased by his father, Gene Carter, was unexpectedly taken from his loved ones on September 27, 2024. Gene was born on June 10, 1978, in Malden, Massachusetts, and grew up in Biddeford, Maine.
Gene was a loving father to three daughters, Aliviya Dares, Vanessa Hebert, and Myah Hebert. He is survived by his sister, Lesha Dares, and her husband, Dustin Boucher, as well as his brothers, Jovan Tyler and Devon Carter. His niece, Shanelle Stanley and her husband Cody, his niece Bliss Boucher, and his nephew, Jordan Stanley, will forever hold him in their hearts. He also leaves behind four great-nephews: Jaxon, Lincoln, Carter, Jovan.
Gene shared his life with his long-time significant other, Monika Lavigne, who was a constant source of love and support.
Gene will always be remembered for his infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day, and the smirk that had the power to win over even the toughest crowd. His fierce love for those close to him and his unshakable loyalty were his hallmarks. If you found yourself in a difficult situation, Gene was the one you called-he was a friend who would always defend you, even when you weren't there to defend yourself.
A man of style, Gene was rarely seen without his signature crisp baseball hat, and he took great pride in always looking his best. He had a passion for sports, both playing them and cheering for his favorite teams from the comfort of his couch.
Taken from us far too soon, Gene will be deeply missed every day. Though his mission in life wasn't yet complete, he will live on in the cherished memories and deep love shared by his family and friends.
Gene's legacy will remain strong, and his impact on the lives of those who knew him will never fade.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St, Biddeford, ME 04005.
