Gene Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 23, 2023.
Little Gene Gordon Davis Jr. was the 2nd child of six, born February 28, 1973, to Gene Gordon Sr. and Bertha Mae Davis in Austin, Texas. He departed this life on March 18, 2023.
As the only son raised with five daughters, he was affectionately referred to as "Big Head" by his siblings, "Little Gene", and "kinfolk", by relatives who knew him best.
Gene graduated from Del Valle ISD. His working career started with Foodland Supermarket and then Burnup & Sims construction where he worked with his uncles. He would ultimately end up in the transportation field where he worked many years for Coca-Cola and later Pro Drivers; finally, culminating his passions by starting his own company, Gordon Logistics.
People often joked, "Gene knows everyone," because no matter where he was in the city, he recognized a familiar face. As a father, he was passionate about fatherhood and loved his children. He talked about them constantly and he was proud to be called dad and pawpaw.
Gene made it a point, over the years, to stay in touch with his relatives both near and distant. He would make a point to visit often and support whenever he could. He was always willing to give advice and hoped to see others win.
Gene later went on to marry the love of his life, Yolanda, on October 15th, 2017. They were inseparable ever since. Gene was a true gentleman, always making sure to do the little things. Gene made it his mission to make Yolanda happy and he succeeded. The two were the best of friends and had many plans together for the future.
The memories of Gene's laughter, story-telling, and mischievous humor will always be warmly remembered. He made an impact on every life he touched, and his presence will be greatly missed.
Gene Gordon Davis Jr. was preceded in death by his mother: Bertha Mae Davis. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife: Yolanda Davis, four sons: Jamal, Jalen, Justin and Jordan; three bonus daughters: Jocelon, Keeana, and Ronni; as well as his father: Gene Davis Sr.; Five sisters: Lynn Davis, Rachel Banks (Michael), Colisha Tolden-Isaac (Jeremy), Monica Davis (Tiffany), and Jessica Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and long-time friends.
