Gene F. Molnar, 92, of Catawba Island, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Lorain, Ohio on January 7, 1930, the son of Nick and Elizabeth Molnar. Gene joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary E. (Riley) on November 3, 1951, and after 69 years together, she passed away on July 30, 2021.
Gene was a contractor for the past 50 years, building homes in the Lorain, Cleveland, and Avon Lake, Ohio areas. Gene and his wife have been the owners of N-E Port Marina on Catawba Island for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Avon Lake, and the Power Squadron in Rocky River, Ohio, for many years. Hard work was part of his daily life, but every chance he had, he enjoyed fishing, either in Lake Erie or the Gulf of Florida.
Gene is survived by his sons, Michael (Peggy) Molnar and Matt (Joane) Molnar, grandchildren, Mollie (Casey) Collins, Amanda, Nick and Jacob Molnar, great grandchildren, Abbey, Landon, McKenzie, Carrigan, and Connor. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, and son David Molnar.
There are no services scheduled and the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice, or the
