Gene Randolph "Randy" Weatherly went home to be with the Lord on October 4th, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on August 21st, 1939 to Hershel and Lucile Weatherly, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. After graduating from Spring Hill School in 1958, Randy moved to Oklahoma to begin a new chapter. In 1963, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served honorably as an enlisted soldier in the 3rd Armored Division stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. Assigned to the 2nd Brigade's maintenance section, he worked on armored vehicles and tanks. Upon return to the U.S., he worked for Swanson's Tire Center until he retired in 2008. He married the love of his life, Margaret Jane Branstetter, on December 10th, 1967. They welcomed two children, Michael Gene and Leslie Suzanne. His greatest joy came with the arrival of his two granddaughters, Lauren and Katelyn.
Randy had an extraordinary gift for connection, never walking into a room without lighting it up with his presence. His social nature was unmatched-he truly knew everyone, and everyone seemed to know him. His mornings were always spent with his coffee group, a daily ritual that gave him so much joy and allowed him to connect with those around him. What made Randy special was his infectious smile and kind spirit, making everyone feel seen and valued. His legacy of love and laughter will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his children, Michael Weatherly (Anna) of Sebastian, Florida, and Leslie
Wilson (Paul) of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren Lauren Wilson (fiance Tyler) and Katelyn Wilson of Yukon, Oklahoma; siblings Monte Stratton Weatherly (Phyllis) of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Peggy Sue Weatherly Wright of Edmond, Oklahoma; along with many other family members who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Jane Weatherly; parents Hershel and Lucile Weatherly; siblings Minnie Ann Weatherly Lee, Jodie David Weatherly, and James Wade Weatherly.
In lieu of flowers, Randy requested donations be made to the Proton Pals Foundation
(https://www.protonpalsfoundation.org/) or the American Cancer Society
(https://www.cancer.org/). If donating to the American Cancer Society, please make the donation

You were the Sweetest Man. I will always cherish our visits. Our laughs, talking about birds and rabbits and trying to find that one piece of that puzzle. You always met me halfway to the door and always walked me out even though I told you not to. You would say that you needed to check the mailbox anyway. I would caution you about going downhill and to be careful not to fall. You would just smile. I will miss you so much and I will never forget our talks. As always,"Love You. Holler if you need anything." Rest In Peace My Friend. Stephanie, RN.
