Granville Lafayette Clapp was born to Eugene and Lucy Faye on November 26, 1936, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm 10 miles east of Frederick, where they grew wheat, cotton, cattle, and sheep. He went to school in the community of Hollister, OK, where he played baseball and basketball. After graduation, he married Marilyn
Rackley, the love of his life, for 69 years. They moved to OKC, where he worked at Sears for 14 years. He left Sears in 1968 and went to Sunset School of Preaching. In 1970, he graduated, moved back to Oklahoma City, and began his work at Cherokee Hills. He retired from Cherokee Hills in 2007 but continued to work with many congregations for
many years.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Eugene and Lucy Faye Clapp, brother Edmund Clapp, sister Shirley Holder, brothers-in-law Larry Rackley, John Slater, and James Holder, nephews Kenneth and Conrad Clapp, and son-
in-law Guy Bernethy. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, children Gary and Melanie, Sue, Greg, and Alison. Grandchildren Garrett and Cristen, Chad and Stephanie, Samantha and Tyler, Kendal and Brian. Great-grandsons Parker and Claire, Cohen, Ryder, Kamden, Kayin, Kaycey, Gage, Dakota, Tucker, and Brice. Great, great granddaughter Taytum. Sisters Wanda and Janelle.
