Mrs. Genelle Walker Mounce, age 90, of Dahlonega passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Mrs. Mounce was born September 6, 1935, in Wilsonville, Georgia. Later her family settled in
Perry, Florida. Genelle gave her heart to Christ at the age of 12. She had a deep love for the Bible, studying and committing large portions of Scripture to memory. She soon began teaching Sunday School, learned to play the piano, and sang gospel songs on the local radio station, accompanied by her brother Billy.
In school, Genelle excelled in all subjects, particularly Home Economics. In High School she was voted, "Miss Congeniality" and was Salutatorian of her graduating class. She was one of 200 high school students who were chosen to travel to Newark, New Jersey to be trained by Prudential Insurance Co. following her Graduation.
Later, Genelle met the love of her life, Eddie Mounce, who was already a minister, having served as missionary and evangelist for several years. They soon married, and ministry together took them to the Virgin Islands and across the United States, pastoring churches in Georgia, Florida, and Hawaii. They served as State Overseer of the Hawaiian Islands, Arizona, Nevada, Arkansas, and Alabama. Every place the family moved, Genelle made it feel like home. She truly fulfilled the Biblical example of a "Proverbs 31 woman." Through years of adversity and financial constraint of vocational ministry, she always displayed a servant's heart and entertained with a humble spirit. She spent most of her home-making years foregoing many luxuries to help support a commitment to full-time ministry. The sacrifice paid off, as their efforts continue to bear fruit in the lives of countless families they impacted along the way.
For several decades, Genelle taught and ministered to thousands of women across the country, as Ladies' Retreat speaker for their denomination. Genelle often shared her personal testimony of divine healing at age 25, as she lay dying of kidney disease with one dead kidney and the other one dying. Over the next 60 years, she faithfully shared how Jesus came into her hospital room and healed her completely; and angels appeared and ministered to her.
After retiring from appointed ministry in 1992, Eddie and Genelle moved back to Dahlonega, Georgia, where they pastored their first church in the 1960s. When many would have called it quits, they sensed God had bigger plans. They spent a portion of their "Golden Years" traveling across the country in evangelism, including a month-long season of intense ministry; teaching and equipping people in the Ukraine and Germany in 1997 at their own financial expense. Genelle was a member of The Fountain Church of God of Prophecy in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Genelle Walker Mounce graduated from this life on October 30, 2025. She is reunited with her parents, Carswell Walker, Sr. and Clessie Davis Walker, brothers, Billy Walker, and Carswell Walker, Jr., sisters-in-law, Lolly Walker, Ruth Mounce Davis and her husband, Wallace Davis. Genelle is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Mounce, who also served as her devoted caregiver for many years.
She leaves a wonderful legacy in her three children, Susan Mounce Lowry (Larry), Jeff Mounce (Colleen), and Jason Mounce, along with her beloved grandchildren, Justin Lowry (Charlotte), Victoria Mounce, and Bryson Mounce. She is also survived by her brother, Lester Walker (Rachel) sister, Erma Lewis (Jack), sisters- in-law, Geneva Walker and Naomi Walker. She is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Genelle is rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and has finally heard Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." We cherish her memory and the lasting impact she has made on our lives forever! Family and friends are invited to celebrate Genelle's life at the visitation on November 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in
