Genethal Kendrick Obituary

Visit the McCullough Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

On October 5,1973, in Atlanta, Georgia, a precious gift entered the world through the lives of the late Ruling Elder William H. Kilgore, Sr. and Lady Janell Barnwell Kilgore. They named their daughter Genethal Renne Kilgore, affectionately known as “Auntie Shoop.”

Educated in the DeKalb County public schools, she accepted Christ at a young age. As a youth, she sang with the Moses Tabernacle Youth and Young Adult Choir and the New Creations Choir, her angelic soprano voice blessing everyone who heard it. Later, she nurtured her spiritual foundation at End Time Harvest Christian Center in Warner Robins under Senior Pastor Melvin Womack. Her faith became the cornerstone of her life, guiding her as a devoted sister, wife, mother, godmother, and friend.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 51, Genethal transitioned from her earthly labor to her heavenly reward at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in every life she touched.

She was united in love with her sweetheart, Todderick Kendrick, and together they shared 21 beautiful years of marriage. They raised their beloved daughters, Lauren Renne’ and Tabitha Grace, whom she not only adored but also trained to be virtuous, strong, and faith-filled women.

Genethal had a heart for children, serving as Nursery Coordinator of her church daycare and giving generously of her time and love. She was an active member of Women in the Word, where she strengthened her ministry of service and support to others. She was known for her kindness, her encouragement, and her gift of teaching others that they were capable of far more than they imagined.

She loved everything about coffee, was always ready with snacks, and carried her mother’s legacy of thoughtful shopping and giving. Helping others was second nature to her, and her laughter, generosity, and unwavering support left an imprint on all who knew her. She loved without condition.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Todderick Kendrick; her daughters, Lauren Renne and Tabitha Grace Kendrick; her brothers, William H. Kilgore, Jr., Michael Kilgore, Lorenzo (Shun) Kilgore, and Anthony DelWayne Kilgore; her sisters, Cassandra G. “Cookie” Clowers (Minister Johnny Anthony) and Jalynne “Bee” Byrom (Bernard); her godson, Michael Everett Jr; mother n’ law, Ms. Margaret Hall, sister n’ laws, Tonya and Keisha Hall, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her deeply.

Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to inspire us always.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the End Time Harvest Christian Center. Afterward, Genethal Renne Kilgore “Auntie Shoop” Kendrick will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
