Geniel K Bortz

Geniel Kathleen Bortz died at her home in Heber on May 7, 2025. She was born in Murray, Utah on March 26, 1949, to Glen William Johnson and May Hyde. She grew up in Crescent Utah. On August 7, 1997 she was married and sealed Jack T Bortz in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
A lover of the outdoors, Geniel could often be found riding an ATV, river running, or fishing. She enjoyed traveling around the world with Jack. She played the piano and enjoyed reading, especially poetry by Robert Frost. She was a graduate of Brigham Young University and worked more than 15 years as secretary to Apostle L. Tom Perry.
Surviving Geniel is her husband, Jack; brothers, Deloy and Dwight Johnson; nephew, Derek Johnson; niece, Salma Johnson; and many others who love her. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held for Geniel at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 15, 2025, in the Heber City Cemetery. A time for visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45 on Thursday at the Heber North Stake Center, 521 East 500 North. Please share your memories.
