Geoffrey “Mortis” W. Weinreis, age 68, of Reedsville, passed away on November 19, 2025.

Geoff, or “Mort” as most people knew him by, was born on June 26, 1957 in Chilton, son of the late Regobert & Dorothy (Buechel) Weinreis. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1976. On May 28, 1983, he married Debra Dresang at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville. Geoff worked in water and sanitation for many years in numerous communities. He retired from MCO, working in Brillion, Stockbridge, Lomira, and Mount Calvary. He also drove school bus for Brandt’s and Milk Truck for Reinemann/Sievert. Throughout his life, he always liked to help others. He was a volunteer firefighter in Forest Junction and Reedsville, he would help his neighbors and friends, and always did things for his family. Mort was a party animal, always up for a bon fire or bean bags, cooking out, camping in his younger years, having a good time. He was very particular and was always “putzing” around. He spent a lot of his retirement woodworking and always loved spending time with his family.

Geoff is survived by his wife, Debra; their children and spouses: Cassandra (Michael) Alberts and Jared (Angela) Weinreis; granddaughters: Eliza and Juliet Alberts and Maeve Weinreis; siblings and in-laws: Karen (Tom) Bonfigt, David (Shari) Weinreis, Mark Weinreis; mother-in-law: Monica Dresang; in-laws: Jan (Mike) Ott, Steve (Charlene) Dresang, Dan (Karen) Dresang, Ken Dresang, and Brian (Gina) Dresang; goddaughter: Tanya Gilbertson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law: Francis Dresang; siblings and in-laws: John (Judy) Weinreis, Elizabeth “Betty” (Raymond) Gegare, Jane (Clayton) Ponkratz, Mary (Bob) Beyer and special friend, Bud Krueger, Peggy (Donnie) Nett; special friend of Ken Dresang, Mary Jo Becker; nephews: Brad Gegare and Justin Bonfigt; and other relatives.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Father Matt Colle. Inurnment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday evening, November 24, 2025 at Pielhop Funeral Home in Brillion, 215 S. Main St.; from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday morning at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Reedsville First Responders, the Valders Ambulance, and the Manitowoc Sheriff’s Dept. for all they did.
