Marlene M. Horneck, age 89, of Howards Grove, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, one day shy of her 90th birthday at Rocky Knoll.

Marlene was born on November 6, 1935 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late John and Wilma (Hintz) Meyer. She was a graduate of Kiel High School with the class of 1953. On September 15, 1956, she married Myron “Mike” Horneck at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Schwartzwald. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2001, just shy of their 45th wedding anniversary.

She worked as a Service Department Scheduler at Hayssen Mfg. until her retirement in 1996.

Together Marlene and Mike enjoyed yearly fishing trips in Canada, their card club, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. She looked forward to baking cookies, especially the Christmas cookie baking day with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marlene could be found reading, embroidering dish towels and putting a puzzle together if you were to stop by for a visit. Weekly, Marlene looked forward to her lunch and visits with Mary and the others that they would run into during lunch. Marlene was a lifetime member of St. John’s UCC.

She is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law: Shelly (Alan) Kuether and Trudy (Peter) Koenig, all of Howards Grove; seven grandchildren: Bryan (Abbi) Kuether, Brad (Stacy) Kuether, Kristin Kuether, Amber (Craig) Burzych, Jason (Alison) Koenig, Justin (Laura) Koenig, and Jeremy (Jamie) Koenig; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Marlene is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Mike; parents: John and Wilma; siblings: Lorraine (Francis) Van De Loo, Delmar (Myrtle) Meyer, Darrell Meyer, Oliver (Winona) Meyer, Willard Meyer, Ronald Meyer and infant siblings: John Jr. and Shirley; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gilbert & Ovila Horneck; sisters-in-law: LaVerta (Henry) Boeldt, and Betty Jane (Kenneth) Boeldt.

Funeral Services for Marlene will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, Nov 10, 2025 at St. John’s UCC, Schwartzwald (W3401 Orchard Rd, Elkhart Lake, WI 53020). Officiating will be Rev. Kim Henning. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at church from 9:30AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.

The family would like to thank Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County, Rocky Knoll, as well as Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, for the compassion and care shown to our mom and our family in her last days.
