George A. Alewine, Jr., 16, of Calhoun Falls, died on October 29, 2023. He was born in Greenwood on April 29, 2007, to his loving parents George Anthony 'Tony' Alewine, Sr. and Jean Schuler Alewine.
George was a 10th grade student at Calhoun Falls Charter School. He had a bright future ahead of him and will be remembered for his outgoing personality and zest for life. He worked at The Corner Store in Calhoun Falls where he developed lasting friendships with colleagues and customers alike.
In his spare time, George enjoyed driving his friends around and spreading joy wherever he went. Music was a significant part of his life as it brought him happiness and comfort. Additionally, he had a passion for sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and swimming. George enjoyed being active and could often be found jumping off piers or engaging in outdoor activities like fishing, riding four-wheelers and motorcycles and playing corn hole with his friends. Family was essential to George, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert Alewine, Mattie Sparks Alewine, Wilbur E. Schuler, Sr and Ernie R. Purser; and his uncle, Wilbur E. Schuler, Jr. (affectionately known as Bubba).
George is survived by his parents, George Anthony Alewine, Sr. and Jean Schuler Alewine; three brothers, Jonathan M. Schuler, Kristopher M. Alewine (Aubrey) and Zachary M. Alewine; grandmother, Kathy Land Purser; uncle, Mike Alewine; nephew, Daniel Alewine; three nieces, Carrie Alewine, Kylie Alewine, and Emerson Alewine; two cousins, Garren Alewine (Brandi) and Callie Alewine; and numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness church. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Abbeville.
George A. Alewine, Jr. will forever be remembered as a vibrant young soul who brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
