In Loving Memory of George Martin “Marty” Allman, III November 15, 1942 – May 7, 2025
George Martin “Marty” Allman, III passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Lancaster, PA.
Born in Houston, Texas, on November 15, 1942, he was the son of the late George Allman, Jr. and Ellen (Bettinger) Allman. After nearly 62 years of marriage (May 25), George is survived by the love of his life, Bonnie (Kuhn) Allman, and their three daughters: Kimberly Allman, Jennifer Allman Barto (Mike), and Kristina Allman Savage; his brothers: Patrick, Robert, Anthony, and Jerome; and his cherished grandchildren: Allison, Julia, Justin, Caroline, Colton, Grady, and Joey. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joseph.
After graduating from Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Lafayette Hill, PA, George earned a B.S.Ed. from Millersville University and pursued further studies in languages and philosophy at Temple University. He began his professional life as a French teacher and later built a successful career in corporate management—work that took him and his family across the country, including to Philadelphia, Des Moines, Denver, Detroit, Manhattan, and Scottsdale, Arizona. In his later years, George founded his own business before retiring.
George proudly served his country for six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
A lifelong traveler, George visited all 50 U.S. states, as well as Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. A week in Paris was a treasured highlight. His favorite family vacation spot was the Jersey Shore, where he enjoyed fishing with his brothers.
He had a deep love for Scottsdale, AZ, where he and Bonnie spent several years. He worshipped at Scottsdale Bible Church, served in the counseling ministry, and remained a member after relocating. His spiritual journey began in 1987 when he accepted Christ as his Savior.
George had a wide range of interests. He enjoyed golf, tennis, and fishing; he loved Broadway theatre, music, gardening, and traveling; and he had a lifelong passion for theology and language studies. But above all, George’s greatest joy and priority was his family.
He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to those he loved, his gentle wisdom, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.
