Lowell David Wakeland

Lowell "Dave" Wakeland, 91, of York, passed away Friday August 1, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois Elaine Wakeland.

Dave was born December 24, 1933, and was the son of the late James Hall Wakeland and Nora Spahr Wakeland. He was a very proud servant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He graduated from West York high school and received his bachelor's degree from Millersville University. He taught middle school science and coached different sports in the Susquehannock school district.

He was a life-long, active member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, York New Salem. He was a member of the West York VFW post 8951, York New Salem Lions Club, and Yellow Breaches Anglers and Conservation Association.

Dave is survived by his sister Holly Meekins and his three sons, Douglas Wakeland and his wife Janet of Lacombe, LA; Scott Wakeland of Brunswick, GA, and Bryan Wakeland of West York; and five grandchildren, Kristin, Gregory, Thomas, Jackson, and Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Lehman and Barbara Kuhn.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 23 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at St. Jacob's U.C.C., 100 E. George St., York New Salem. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your community's Lions Club. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
