George G. Arredondo age 77 of San Antonio went to meet the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Sylvia V. Arredondo; daughter, Georgina Brooks and her husband, Steven; grandchildren, Alexander Alcala and his wife Natalie, Nickolas Alcala and his wife Dayanara, Alexus Casas and her husband Jesse, Zach Brooks and Morgan Brooks; great grandchildren, Niah, Avery, Mason, Liam, Elliot, Ryleigh and Elijah; his brothers and sisters, Ernest Arredondo, Jr., Nora Morales, Jimmy Arredondo, Rosemary Saenz and her husband, Roy, Sandra Arredondo and Annette Arredondo; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arredondo is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Arredondo, Sr. and Alicia Arredondo; his sister, Margaret Arredondo and his brother, John Joe Arredondo.
George graduated from Lanier High School in 1965 and was drafted in the U.S. Army at the very young age of 19. His bravery, sacrifice, and strength did not go unnoticed. We will always be indebted to him for all he had given to this country. Everywhere he went he was always stopped thanked and recognized for his services in the Military. Even though he suffered many scars of war he was a very proud Vietnam Veteran.
George is known for numerous things one being a barbecue enthusiast who knew exactly how to precisely cook the finest most amazing barbecue. Once you arrived to his house you could smell the smoky aroma of what would be the most tender, juicy and finest Brisket, Ribs, and Chicken (never dry) in the entire family. A lot of wonderful memories are those of him listening to music, having a few beers while enjoying his cooking with family and friends. His laughter and beautiful smile could fill a room like no other.
His love for Sports and Wrestling was undeniable and considered by most a walking sports encyclopedia that spanned over 50 years of stats, players and more. Baseball was his favorite by far and goes back to his childhood having fond memories of playing with his brothers and cousins. His favorite baseball teams were the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers.
George will be missed deeply everyday by those he touched in life. Ultimately, the legacy he leaves behind is the reflection of the impact he had on his wife, daughter, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren's lives and the values he has instilled in all of them. We love you forever and always.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 P.M. followed by the Rosary at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive.
