George N. Becker

George N Becker,75, of Bayville passed away Thursday, September 25 at home with his family and beloved Golden Barney at his side. He was born in Trenton on May 9,1950 and spent his childhood in Beachwood. George graduated from Toms River High School in 1968 and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va in 1972.

He and his dad ran the family business "Becker's Boat Basin" together until George took over in 1976. He was always happiest at the "boatyard" enjoying the bay, the salt air, the boats, and the wildlife, and, of course, his friends and family.

He married his wife Merri Lee (Mern, Sara Lee) in 1982 and they spent the next 43 years sharing life together. They especially enjoyed cruising with Jodie and John.

When Super Storm Sandy arrived in 2012, the boatyard was destroyed, and they started a new chapter. George went to work at the Bayville School, and they moved to Sonata Bay where they met many new friends. George loved it there, but he still made daily trips to his beloved "pier" on the bay.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mollie Becker and his Brothers-In-Law James Donald Raab and John Marcinczyk and many generations of his beloved dogs, most recently his Kody.

He is survived by his wife Merri Lee, his stepdaughter Lorri Lynne Becar, his sister Joanne (Jodie) Raab, his nephew James Raab (Katie), his nieces Alexandria and Meredith Raab, his brother-in-law Bob Cree (Sheilah) and his faithful friend Barney.

George was a good man and a good friend. We will all miss him. Rest in peace, George.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on October 13 from 3-5pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville.
