George Wayne Brannon, age 81 of Wartrace, TN, passed from this life on August 5, 2025 at home with his loving family at his side.
George was born on April 27, 1944 in Unionville, TN to the late Irvin Lee and Anne Moore Brannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn Raye Hurt Brannon; son: Steven Dewayne Brannon; siblings: Irene Jacobs, Sara Jane Mason, Johnny Fred Brannon, William Ralph Brannon, Richard Brannon, Raymond Brannon and Bobby Mallard.; brothers-in-law: Rice Jacobs, Ralph Mason, Tommy Foster, David Spain; and sister-in-law: Charlotte Brannon.
He is survived by his son: Mark (Laurie) Brannon; grandchildren: Stefanie (Fernando) Margañón, and Shelby (Trevor) York; step-grandchild: Keith Boyce; great-grandchildren: Raelynn, Kenleigh, Lizzie, Fernando, and Norah; siblings: Betty Foster, Sheila Spain, and Faith Lunsford; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Brannon, Rhonda Brannon, Barbara Brannon, and Wanda Mallard; and his lady friend of 18 years: Kathleen Jones.
George retired at 62 from American Can, but for most of his adult life he worked as a TV Repairman, spending 16 years with Thompson TV Shop. He enjoyed telling jokes and was noted for being able to fix just about anything. He was a member of Phillippi Independent Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Nowlin officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Mountain Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Phillippi Independent Methodist Church, P.O. Box 702, Shelbyville, TN 37162.
