George Francis Dale, 83, of Springfield, PA., died Feb. 21, 2025, while surrounded by his beloved family.
April 20, 1941, George was born and raised in West Philadelphia by the late Miriam (Wright) and Frank Dale. He was a longtime resident of Drexel Hill, PA.
George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary (Young) Dale; children Jonathan (Cara), Steven (Anne), Paul (Lauren); grandchildren Maya, Madeline, Jack, Molly, Jillian, Jonathan, Joseph and Peter Laurel; sister Suzanne; and nine nephews and one niece.
He was predeceased by his son, Peter Bryan Dale.
George was a proud 1959 graduate of St. Thomas More High School, Villanova University (1963) and the Delaware Law School of Widener University (1975).
A member of the Pennsylvania bar since 1976, George was a partner in the Dale & Korolishin law firm and, later, an associate member of the Kent & McBride law firm.
George was a proud and loving family man with an exceptional ability to create deep and lasting relationships. From childhood to his later years, he formed strong, deep bonds and friendships that lasted decades.
George lived his life with kindness and generosity, exemplified by opening his heart and home to his loving foster child, Rose Schaefer, and Olson Santiago of the Fresh Air Fund. He had an enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar, traveling with family and friends, photography, reading history, and riding bikes on the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J., where he maintained vacation homes for decades. George was often at his most joyful playing games and performing magic tricks with his grandchildren.
In his various roles as husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, friend and counselor, George showed us how to appreciate life and its small, fleeting beauties.
He showed us how to be there for friends and family; how to take pride in your work; how to laugh and be silly; how to love your partner, friends and family; and how to give a small and authentic compliment. Days before his death, when his wife Mary came to his bedside, he mustered the energy to tell her, with love, “Your hair looks nice,” and “I like your sweater.”
George will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends, but he leaves a sustained imprint on this world: to give and receive love humbly, authentically, and generously; to keep your eyes and ears open to the unorthodox, everyday beauties (such as the the smell of skunks, which he proclaimed to enjoy); and to laugh, joke and play.
We love you, George Dale.
