George T. Dittmar, age 89 of Lancaster, Ohio passed peacefully and in the presence of his family on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Charlotte J. Dittmar; children Mark B. (Michele Lynch), Melissa Douglas, and Rebecca (Franklin) Fugitt; two grandsons Kyle 9Erin) Petty, Kolin Petty; three granddaughters Hannah Hsu, Jasalyn Dittmar, and Ashley Brock; brother-in-law, Tom Daubenmire: niece Cathy Gaskill and his beloved dog Bently.
George was preceded in death by his parents George H. and Mary Margaret (Greten) Dittmar, and sister Sue Ann Daubenmire.
George worked for 33 years at Crane Plastics, Inc. as Chief Engineer of the Electronics Department and retired in 1996. George was a man of faith with strong and deep love for his family. He was an avid electronics experimenter and enjoyed designing and building electrical circuits and restoring antique radios.
He was a ham radio operator (W0HIO) and had a keen interest in airplanes, having built and flown his own ultralight aircraft. George loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. He used that talent to sing at church, weddings and funerals. He was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church, accepting Christ as his savior over 65 years ago.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Lancaster Baptist Church, 2695 Boving Road SW, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Timothy Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Lancaster Baptist Church, 2695 Boving Road SW, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in his memory.
