George Alexander Goulet, 81 of North Stratford, went home to be with his Lord on September 19, 2024 at his home by his loving wife by his side.
George was born in West Stewartstown, NH on January 5th, 1943. He attended schools in Groveton and Berlin, graduating in the class of 1962 from Stratford High School. After graduating high school he took a job at the Stratford Plywood Mill for a few years. He then left Stratford to attend barber school in Lewiston, ME. After graduating from barber school he took a job as a barber in Augusta, ME. On one of his visits home in Stratford he met Diane Charest on a blind date. They were married on August 14, 1971. They made their home in Augusta for a few years and while living in Augusta, he took a job at Grossman Hardware in addition to barbering.
After a few years they returned to Stratford to live and he went to work at Ethan Allen Furniture Factory in Beecher Falls, VT. He later went on to work at Ampad Paper Company in North Stratford and then worked at Ethan Allen Furniture in Island Pond, VT where he held various positions including night security. He then worked as a forklift operator at Wausau Carriers in Groveton, NH from which he retired.
Goerge was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Church, St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, serving on the parish council. He was a lifelong member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. The last several years he served as Grand Knight. He was a member of the Oblate Associates.
George was a man who had a thirst for knowledge, he was always researching different topics through reading and watching news and documentaries. He was always willing to help out where he could, he and Diane volunteered at Our Lady of Grace Shrine for several years on various occasions including helping with the annual Blessing of the Bikes. He was also a volunteer firefighter for North Stratford Fire Department, receiving an award in 1986. His hobbies included woodworking, leather crafting and working around his home and getting his wood in for the winter.
George was a loving husband to his wife Diane of 53 years as well as a loving father to his sons Robert and his wife Brandy and Brian and his wife Cheryl. He was a loving Pepere to Alex, Mathew, Aaron, Michele, Anthony and Della. He is also survived by his brother Charles Jr., and his wife Lorraine, brother and sister in-laws as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Charles Sr. and Denise (Poulin) Goulet, as well as twin sons Peter and Paul in 1972 and several aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish in North Stratford at 11:00am. A reception will follow the cemetery committal at the Parish. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Church.
