George David Hardy, 86, of Fort Loudon went home to be with his Lord and savior on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Chambersburg Hospital, he was a son of the late Samuel H. and Harriet E. (Gallagher) Hardy.

He and his wife, Judath A. "Judy" (Peck) Hardy, were married April 20, 1961.

He attended school in Fannettsburg.

George worked for Ralph E. Keefer Contractor, the Borough of Mercersburg and Foremost Industries.

His interests included hunting, fishing, raising his chickens, being outdoors and carpentry work. He enjoyed making mini buildings and birdhouses and giving them to friends.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by three children and their partners, James D. "Jim" and Shawn Hardy of Welsh Run, PA, Ruth Crouse and Tom Gibbons of Harrisonville, PA, and Matthew D. "Matt" Hardy and Karen Smith of Plymouth Meeting, PA; two grandchildren, Jacob "Jake" Hardy of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Kaitlyn Hardy of Independence, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody D. Wileman; two brothers, John Hardy and Raymond Hardy; six sisters, May Hardy, Grace Williams, Marie Lindsay, Carrie Furman, Jeanette Burkett and Ruth Burkett.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg, with Pastor Reuben Egolf officiating. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the service and burial will take place at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.

Memorial donation may be made to Mount Calvary Tabernacle, 5415 Warm Spring Road, St. Thomas, Pa 17252 or Metal Township Fire and Ambulance, 10862 Path Valley Road, Fannettsburg, PA, 17221.
