MSgt. George Washington Hearl, Jr (retired) of Abingdon, VA passed away peacefully 9-6-25 and is now in the arms of his Lord & Savior.

George was a devout Christian, devoted family man, public servant to the community, and foremost a stranger to none and friend to all. Seventy years ago, he married the love of his life, Doris Lilly Hearl. They shared an unbreakable bond and were inseparable. He was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church where he also served as Chairman of the Security team. George served 22 years as active-duty military in the USAF and 10 years as a Navy Civil Servant. He volunteered at Feeding America for many years and was highlighted for his service in the Feeding America magazine. He never turned down anyone in need.

George is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Angie Hearl; two grandsons, Chris Hearl and Seth Hearl (Kelsey); one granddaughter, Emma Hearl; and three step-grandchildren, Piper, Harry and Amelia. He is predeceased in death by his son, Kirby Hearl and daughter-in-law, Pam Hearl.
