George Henry Hunt Jr.

George "Henry" Hunt, Jr. passed peacefully into the next life on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Henry was born in Thomson, GA., in 1942. His parents were George Henry Hunt, Sr., and Carolyn Echols Hunt. Henry had one sister, Carole Ann Hunt Edging. He enjoyed a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
Henry attended Thomson High School, University of GA., and the school of hard knocks in life. He spent his whole professional career in the home manufacturing and materials business. As a young boy he delivered papers, cut grass, built wooden boxes, and laid oak flooring. He worked for National Homes, Huttig Sash and Door, Slaughter Brothers, and Peachtree Windows and Doors.
Henry married Elise Henson Hunt and together they had two sons, Travis and Tracy. They lived in Thomson, GA., Tyler, TX., and Snellville, GA. They were married for 60 years. Henry enjoyed following the GA Dawgs for over 40 years, traveling across the USA and abroad, being with his children and grandchildren, family celebrations and his church friends. He played ALTA tennis and golf.
He was preceded in death by many loved ones, leaving him as the senior member at 83. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Elise, sons, Travis and Tracy. Daughter in law, Melissa; grandchildren, Trent (Brittany), Owen and Sawyer; great granddaughter, Sadie; sister Carole Ann Edging (Tom), niece, Kathryn (Bryan) Wall; nephew, Matt (Alix) Edging; great nephews, Levi and Liam; great niece, Ansley; as well as many cousins.
The family will celebrate Henry's life with a graveside service on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 12:00 PM in Snellville Historical Cemetery. The Varsity will cater a reception following the graveside service at Henry's home in Snellville. To celebrate Henry's love of the University of Georgia, please wear your best Georgia gear.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider planting a tree or donating in Henry's name to your favorite charity.
