Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Aug. 25, 2025.
Ruby Bryan Jordan passed peacefully, surrounded by her three children, on August 23, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold, six brothers, and one sister.
Born in
Snellville, Georgia, on July 18, 1935, Ruby was the youngest of eight children. Growing up during the Great Depression, she experienced firsthand the challenges of a large family making do with limited means. Those early years taught her perseverance, resourcefulness, and the importance of faith.
Ruby was a 1953 graduate and valedictorian of Snellville Consolidated School. She was also a school cheerleader - her joyful spirit and kindness drew people to her, and through school and church she forged lifelong friendships. Ruby was known for her quick wit, encouraging words, and genuine care.
In 1958, she married the love of her life, Harold Jordan. Together, they built a marriage of 53 years, marked by faith and devotion. They were inseparable - truly "salt and pepper" - until Harold's passing in 2012. Ruby's greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into raising their three children: Chip Jordan (Juli), Juli Bieser (Art), and Tara Moore (Darrell). Her love extended to her grandchildren-Juliana Jordan, Nathaniel Jordan (Kathryn), Moriah Ailes (Zach), Jordan Moore, Amy Norman (Bobby), Taegen Madson (Tanner), Christopher Bieser, and Daniel Moore - and her cherished great-grandchildren, Penelope "Penny" Jordan, Ruby Jordan, and Paxton Madson. Ruby's family experienced her steady encouragement, gentle presence, and unconditional love.
Ruby began her adult life working at State Farm Insurance claims and adjustments department in Atlanta. After Harold and Ruby started a family, she stayed home to raise their children. In 1972, Ruby had the opportunity to work at W.C. Britt Elementary School in Snellville. This allowed her to have the same schedule as her children and spend time with them in the summer. As the media specialist, she was affectionately known by her co-workers as the "technology expert." She delighted in helping children discover a love for books and learning. Her kindness and encouragement touched countless students and families for over two decades.
Faith was the foundation of Ruby's 90-year life. She and Harold were long time active members at Bethany Baptist Church where Ruby taught Sunday School, led Girls in Action, helped with Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, and played the organ part-time. Later, she and Harold worshiped at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where they faithfully attended Sunday School and Ruby sang in the senior choir. Her steadfast devotion and humble service left a legacy of faith for her family to carry forward.
Ruby will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family, selfless spirit, and gracious heart. She loved reading, sewing, cooking meals that brought her family together, playing Scrabble, and volunteering in her community. Ruby had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and treasured. She never failed to tell others how beautiful and precious they were.
Ruby's life was one of faith, love, and dedication. Her gentle spirit and warm presence will be missed deeply, and the influence of her life will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
