Kathie, I was shocked when Phil Audino informed me of George's passing. George and I connected via Facebook because of Phil. However, we soon discovered that we were always destined to connect. We seemed to share the same sense of humor and of the ridiculous. He and I enjoyed teasing Phil about the differences between gravy and sauce. That became our running joke.
I will miss his surprise phone calls. I last spoke with him about 4-5 months ago.
Before we moved, George had been passing through the Newburgh, NY area. When I saw the area from where he made his FB post, I chastised him for not calling me. He was only 2 miles from my office. I extended an open invitation to get together if you folks were ever in the Asheville, NC area. I told him if so, he had better take me up on it!
George told me about a time his friends invited him to go to the City with them. The reason because of his height, they knew they could use him as a landmark in case anyone in the group got lost. I guess God needed a landmark in heaven for when Georges friends and family arrive.
May I offer my deepest condolences. May God bless and keep you in His mighty arms.
