GEORGE E. MCBURNIE (Mac, Buster, Daddy)
George E. McBurnie, 91, of Kingston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 2, 2024.
Survived by longtime partner to Mary Ellen Dakers of Kingston.
Loving father of Bette McBurnie of Weymouth, Nancy McBurnie of Hingham, Kelli Johnson of Hingham, George McBurnie and his wife, Barbara of Quincy, Gigi Monks and her husband, Gordy, of Francistown, NH, Traci McBurnie of Quincy, and Gregg McBurnie and his wife, Kathleen, of Pembroke. Stepfather of Mark Dakers and his wife Kerry of Plymouth and Darcey Dakers and her husband Bob Kamanitz of Southboro.
Brother of Robert McBurnie and his wife, Theresa, of Rockland and the late Richard McBurnie and Janet Donadio.
Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Quincy, son of the late Sydney and Mary McBurnie. George graduated from Weymouth Vocational School and received certificates from South Camden Engineering School in New Jersey for Non-Structural Engineering and Blueprint Reading. He was a general contractor and carpenter later in life.
He held positions at Bethlehem Steel, Eastern Cold Storage and New York Ship Building among others. George loved his family most. He also loved the sea, boating, fishing, snowmobiling and was a life time member of Town River Yacht Club. He was always taking trips to Provincetown and Martha's Vineyard or hanging out on the docks. He always had "The Band" playing music on his boat and would always offer you a "pop".
He loved some of the greats. One of which was Willie Nelson who he was fortunate enough to go see in concert in September. George loved animals. He owned dogs and cats his whole life. One of his dogs, the late Muttonhead happened to gain the title of First Mate on his boat, the Gem Nine. He introduced us to a dice game called "ship, captain, crew" which became a family favorite at gatherings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday, January 13th from 10-1PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
A Celebration of George's life will be held in the spring.

The man that taught me how to fast pitch softballs. I was pretty good at striking people out. Party’s on the roof top. Running around that back yard and losing the balls into Mr. Simsic’s yard. Never to see them again. ❤❤❤❤ My love to you all. Praying for peace. Gayle and family.
