George Elliott McClure was born in New London, Connecticut on August 1, 1946. He lived a benevolent and gracious life and passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022. As a child of an Navy family, George spent most of his childhood in Hawaii, which remained close to his heart all of his life.
He spent 20 years serving in the United States Air Force, followed by 27 years as a civilian on Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. His military career took him to many states and countries. While he was stationed in Germany, he met his wife of 50 years, Ursula, who was a college student at Boppard on the Rhine. The couple welcomed son Sean Patrick McClure, who was born in Landstuhl, Germany, and Heather Dawn McClure who was born in Thunder Bay.
George was a family man and was known by his grandchildren as "Pop-Pop." His engineering skills made him an excellent hobbyist and model maker. He loved building and playing with his remote-controlled planes, trains, and boats. He has a positive and optimistic outlook on life, and made friends everywhere he went.
George was preceded in death by his parents John and Dixie McClure and his son Sean Patrick McClure. He is survived by his wife Ursula (Reinke) McClure, daughter Heather Dawn (McClure) Garrison and spouse Raymond Garrison, grandsons, Chase Wesley McClure, Isaac Douglas Garrison and granddaughters Winter Reign McClure, Amelia Claire Garrison and Tabitha Erin Garrison,
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
