George Anderson McDonald, Jr., age 60 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin due to a house fire. George was born April 27, 1965 in Moberly, Missouri to the late George A. McDonald, Sr. and Sandra Kennedy McDonald.

George was raised in the Garden City, Kansas area where he attended schools. He later started working in maintenance for different places throughout the years, such as Supervisor at the North Park Mall in Joplin and Maintenance Solutions. He also worked for a period of time in the landscaping department for Precious Moments in Carthage, Missouri.

George was deeply fond of his family, spending a lot of time with his kids and grandkids. You would often find him either enjoying a good BBQ with friends and family or on the race track. He would be often called upon to fix all kinds of things as he was known for being a 'Jack of All Trades'.

George married Jo Marie Starr and were happily married for 29 years prior to her passing in 2014. To this union were five children, Virgil McDonald of Joplin, J.J. McDonald (Olivia) of Diamond, Crystal Starr of Webb City, Shyla McDonald (Jennifer) of Joplin and Anna McDonald-Reece (Dylan) of Marceline, Missouri; 15 grandchildren. Additionally, his brothers, Larry McDonald of Garden City, Kansas and Ted McDonald (Tina) of Ft. Worth, Texas; plus, his long-time companion, Michelle Budd of Joplin.

George is also preceded in death by a brother, Tad McDonald.
