George W. McHugh, 82, of Coeymans, passed away on May 29th 2025. Born in Albany on December 5, 1942, he is predeceased by his parents, his wife Anne M. (DeFlumer) McHugh and grandson Andrew McHugh.
George is survived by his loving children George (Rosemary), Joseph (Amy), Albert (Candace), grandchildren George (Jillian), Daniel (Sarah), Michael (Camryn), Matthew (Audrey), Megan, Nicholas, Joseph, and Mary, great-grandchildren Caroline, Georgia, Carver, and Maisie.
George was a 1961 graduate of RCS High School. In January of 1963 he began work with Atlantic Cement as a welder and retired 47 years later. He was known for his staunch work ethic and devotion to his family as well as having a beer or two at the end of a long work day. His grandchildren will remember his humor and the saying " When Ifs and buts become candy and nuts, what a wonderful world this will be." Much of his retirement was spent caring for his wife Anne.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Babcock Funeral Home, 19 Pulver Avenue, Ravena, NY 12143.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of George can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
