Jacqueline "Jackie" Dory Hull, 85, of Wallingford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 12, 2026 in her home. She was born in
Glens Falls, NY on December 24, 1940 to the late Jesse and Dorothy (Fisher) Hull.
Jackie attended Ravena High School in New York, graduating salutatorian of the class of 1958 and continued her education at Northwestern University, Hunter College, Oswego State, eventually receiving her degree at Morris Harvey College.
She started as an office clerk at Connecticut Mutual in 1980, rapidly advanced to computer programmer, and later managed the company payroll. This was a position she held until her retirement in 1996.
Jackie had many hobbies and interests. She loved being outdoors in nature, whether it be camping, hiking, gardening, or simply sitting on her deck watching birds, butterflies, or other woodland creatures, it was a place where she found joy. Other interests over the years include reading, making clothing for her children, knitting, crocheting, a skill she learned from her beloved Aunt Martha, macrame, baking, and canning fresh fruits and vegetables. She also loved making gingerbread cookies and having gingerbread parties.
She loved music, playing the cornet in her high school band and learning to play the guitar in the 70's. She loved country music, especially John Denver, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Jackie was also adventurous, becoming a member of a hiking club and reaching the summit of Mt. Katadin in Maine despite her fear of heights. In 2007, she traveled to Africa with her sister Marcia and good friend Marla. She described it as being an adventure of a lifetime. This experience influenced her charitable endeavors and service to others. She volunteered at Miller Memorial, where she and her beloved dog Beasley provided companionship and support to residents at the facility. Her charitable contributions included supporting the Smile Train for over 20 years as it was an organization she was deeply passionate about.
Jackie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Constance and Peter Bickford of Wallingford and Karen and Edward Doukas of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Robin Olson of Newington; her grandchildren, Andrew Bickford, Leann Bickford, Erik Doukas, Amanda Doukas, Alexander Olson and Zachary Olson; her sister, Marcia Waszkiewicz; her sisters-in-law, Janice Hull and Jane Hull; her cousin, Ingrid Fisher; her longtime friends, Patty, Regina, Shelia, and Marla; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and cherished friends. In addition to her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her brothers, Michael Hull and James Hull.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Saturday, February 21st from 11:00am until 12:00pm. Her memorial service will then begin at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Jackie's memory be made to Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org This organization held special meaning for Jackie, and contributions will honor her legacy of caring and charitable giving.
