George married Beverly "Bev" Thomas in Granite City, IL on October 25, 1962. She preceded him in death in 2019.
The U. S. Air force veteran was a supervisor at Laclede Steel in Madison, IL and retired from United Aircraft Services in Pontoon Beach, IL.
The loving father and grandfather is survived by 2 daughters: Lori (McIlroy) Long of Granite City, IL and Monica (Chris) Weathers of Troy, IL; a son, Troy McIlroy and his fiancé, Susan Conrad of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren: Sean (Carrie) McIlroy, Rebecca McIlroy, Ryan Long, Riley Long and Landon Warren; a great grandchild, Daisy McIlroy; 2 brothers; Kenny McIlroy of Glen Carbon, IL and Mike (Peggy) McIlroy of Charleston, MO and 5 sisters: Donnie Pemberton of Jackson, MO, Janet Greer of East Prairie, MO, Doris-Ann Chapel of Alabama, Carolyn Hooten of Gideon, MO and Barbie (Don) Hopgood of KY.
Besides his wife and parents, George is preceded in death by a son, Eric McIlroy; 2 great grandchildren: Teddy McIlroy and Ezra McIlroy and a sister, Bennie Sue McTigue.
