George Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center on Feb. 4, 2026.
George Meyer Jr., age 89, of Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Delaware, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.

George was born on October 14, 1936, in Rochester, New York, to the late George Sr. and Viola (Stroebel) Meyer. From an early age, he carried a warmth and spirit that drew people in-a trait that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was the beloved husband of Lynn (Merritt) Meyer, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage-a partnership built on deep love, faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion. George was never happier than when surrounded by family. He was a devoted father to Mark (Cheryl) Meyer, Matthew (Marley) Meyer, Mary (Mike) Andrews, and Michael (Carla) Meyer, and a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

George lived in Delaware, Ohio, from 1978 to 2018, where he worked as a metallurgical engineer at Nippert Corp. He approached his career with diligence and integrity, earning the respect of those who worked alongside him.

Above all, George loved to entertain. He had a natural gift for storytelling, a quick wit, and a roaring laugh that filled any room and lingered long after. Whether sharing a joke, telling a story, offering advice, or reminiscing about life and family-and what have you-he made people feel welcome and at ease. His laughter, warmth, and larger-than-life presence will be remembered as fondly as his kindness and generosity.

Those who knew George will remember him as a man of gentle strength, deep faith, and a joyful heart. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so well, the laughter he shared freely, and the countless lives he touched.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at West William Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015, with Pastor Carl Schaefer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freshwater Church, Mission Team, 590 Hartman Road, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281.

George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered-his laughter echoing on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
