George Sanborn
March 31, 2025
I was just thinking tonight of friends and classmates from Bedford High School, and the first name that came to mind was George Mikkola. I graduated the year after he did, but we were in Miss Lois Blakeney's French class together, along with Kenny Johnson and Craig Keith. We all sat together and had a little too much fun, I guess, as class clowns Kenny and Craig entertained the class with exaggerated attempts at pronouncing French. Miss Blakeney was very patient with us all, one of the best teachers I ever had. We lost Craig tragically just a few years later, aged 22. I don't know what became of Kenny. I'm sorry to learn that George has left us. I can see from his photo that he never lost that mischievous look in his eyes. I remember that tall thin blond boy with the blue eyes always ready to smile and laugh. Everyone liked him. I think he had a female cousin in our school, too, whose name was Karen Ahola, I believe. So long ago now, another time, another place.
