George passed in the early morning on August 5th after a long illness. He was 82. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean Harsch DeKay. He leaves behind his wife Cindy, five children, Mitchell Mulks, Laura Elworthy, Lucas Mulks, Joshua Mulks and Matthew Mulks, and ten grandchildren, Jory, Cody, Willow, Autumn, Calvin, Reese, Aidan, Evelyn, Maddox, Harrison and two nieces and five nephews. George grew up in Orinda CA, and attended Miramonte high school. He moved to Benicia in 1975 and stayed to grow and raise his family. He took a summer job moving furniture for Bekins Moving and Storage and spent almost 50 years working in the industry. George was an active member of Teamster's Local 315. He earned his dues through the union, driving trucks, moving furniture and working his way into labor law and union negotiations through much of the 1970's and 1980's. In the 1990's, George moved into management, consulting and operations for other companies within the moving and storage industry, eventually finding a role he enjoyed in sales with Chipman United Van Lines. He was a team player who loved working with people from all walks of life. George was gifted with a strong work ethic and enjoyed being active in the local small business community, networking for many years with the Benicia Chamber of Commerce's Biz Net group. George loved the outdoors, and loved spending time with his, family in nature. George spent much of his free time over the years hiking, fishing, going on drives, cycling, and taking his family camping. George loved the Sierra Nevadas, and Lake Tahoe. George had a close connection with nature and the weather; often displaying the uncanny ability to spot the small cloud in the blue sky that would become the thunderstorm. George loved being close to thunderstorms, lightning and the rain. Most importantly, he was an avid life long Giants fan! No matter how bad his health he always was able to ask 'what time is the game on today?' George possessed relentless spirit, with fight and fire to endure the toughest of challenges brought his way throughout his life. He was like the cat with 999 lives. He loved his family. He will be missed.
