Dover NH-George Polychronopoulos, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27, 2022 at Carriage Hill in Madbury surrounded by family.
George was a lifetime resident of Dover born on June 6, 1928, he was the son of Stelios and Zoesta (Hantze) Polychronopoulos. He attended Dover schools and proudly served the Marine Corps in World War II from 1946 through 1948.
Throughout his life George was a passionate Boston sports fan. He was involved in many local sports including coaching little league, coaching adult softball league, coaching local basketball and golfing at Sunningdale Country Club. One of his greatest sports thrills was when the Red Sox finally won the World Series in 2004.
George worked a career as a Quality Control Manager for IMC Magnetic Corporation, Damart and GFS.
One of the most important things to George was the sense of family. He loved entertaining at the house on special occasions such as Greek Easter, birthdays and numerous other holidays. His door was always open to family and friends. One of his most precious memories was the family trip to Greece.
George was a dedicated steward to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where he was past President of the Parish council and served on various committees. He was an active member of the AHEPA. One of his greatest honors was receiving the Ministry Award from the Diocese in 2005.
The thing that was most precious to George, was his family. Devoted father of Zoe Polychronopoulos of Dover NH and George Polychronopoulos of Nashua NH. He survived by his brother Bill Polychronopoulos of Nashua NH. He is the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia (Papatones) Polychronopoulos of Dover, NH. He was also predeceased by his brother Steve Paul of Sanbornville, NH and his sister Virginia (Polychronopoulos) Adamopoulos of La Crescenta, CA.
An hour of visitation will take place at Tasker Funeral Home on Thursday December 1, 2022 from 9:30am-10:30am with a Funeral Service to take place at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at 93 Locust Street, Dover NH 03820 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Dover End 68 Hours of Hunger or the Greek Orthodox Outreach in George's name.
George's family is grateful to his caregivers at Carriage Hill Assisted Living and Wentworth Hospice Care.

I remember George“s warm smile when he graciously invited us into his home around the holidays. The best eggnog was at the Polychronopoulos house. He was always kind and generous and profoundly proud of his children.
