George was born on October 29,1935 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Richard and Madeline Preo.
He Married the love of his life, Barbara Ernster Preo on February 7, 1959.
He is survived by all 5 of their children: Ellen Whitman, William "Bill" Preo (Kathy), Maryanne Jarrell (Donald), Jeanne Preo (Bill), Susan Northrop (James), Many Grandchildren: Lauren Bierstedt (Barry), Amanda Shingleton, Jessica Shingleton, Katie Preo (Jonathan), Matthew Jarrell, Amy Jarrell-Givens (Ron), Georgia Northrop, James Northrop III and Audrey Kramer. As well as 10 great-grandchildren which he adored.
George was a proud Veteran of the US Airforce. He retired from GE, after a full career that included time working for NASA, and Federal Paperboard. After retirement, George got to put his focus on the things he loved most in life. RV travels, NASCAR races. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus.
Mostly, he enjoyed time with his family. Having a large family always kept him busy. Later, he enjoyed nothing more than porch sitting, and bird watching with family members. He was proud of his Wisconsin roots & loved to reminisce with anyone about his days spent on his family's farm.
All who knew George, knew how important his faith was to him.A trait that he happily passed down to his family. He truly was a man of God.
Always fully committed to his family, and friends. He'd lend a helping hand however he could. He never met a stranger, and was a true friend to all.
This man was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle to so many, and will be so very missed.
His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Amedisys Hospice for their loving care & support over the past several weeks, especially his special nurse, Anno Freeman.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice, www.amedisys.com.
The family will receive visitors on Friday 01.07.22 at Harrell's Funeral Home in Burgaw from 6-7 PM followed by a Mass and Burial on Saturday 01.08.22 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Burgaw.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I only met George a few times but he was always so warm and welcoming. He will be missed but he has left a legacy of love in his beautiful family.
