George "Stuart" Reed was born on August 28, 1956, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to Elsie Oxendine Reed and the late George Stuart Reed, Sr. He passed away peacefully on October 01, 2025, at the age of 69 at Duke Medical Center, surrounded by family.

Stuart was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his great character and adventurous spirit.

He met the love of his life, Pamela Fetner Reed, while attending Wingate University, and together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage filled with joy and companionship.

Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Jessica Reed Williams and Heather Reed Trippet (and husband, Chase), and granddaughter, Elizabeth Williams (father, David Williams).

Professionally, Stuart was a respected and well-liked salesman at Total Lubricants, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring. His colleagues remember him not only for his strong work ethic but also for his ability to brighten any room with his humor, storytelling and easygoing nature.

Outside of work, Stuart had a deep passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding both peace and excitement in the beauty of nature. Golf was another of his favorite pastimes, a sport he approached with the same enthusiasm and zest for life that defined him. And above all, Stuart never missed a chance to cheer on Duke Basketball. Attending Duke athletic events in his later years brought him tremendous joy.

Stuart's legacy is one of love, laughter, and adventure. He lived fully and generously, filling every moment with warmth, humor, and heart. Those who knew him will always remember his love for music, good food, storytelling and impressions, his generous spirit, and his unwavering devotion to family. Though he will be dearly missed, his spirit and the memories he gave will forever be etched in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, `at the First Baptist Church in Hamlet. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 with Dr. Allison Farrah officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Duke Heart 7 West for their exceptional support, gentle care, compassion, and patience.

Memorials may be made to The Cape Fear American Heart Association or First Baptist Church (208 Charlotte St. Hamlet, NC 28345).
