"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." John 14:27 "Let not your heart be troubled" John 14:1 George Edward Riddick was born on October 6, 1946 in Gatesville, NC. He was the second child of eight children born to the late Scott and Geneva Riddick Bowser. He transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Chowan River Nursing Home in Edenton, NC. George was educated in the Gates County Schools system. He worked at numerous jobs until he pursued his dream "becoming a professional truck driver." After earning his commercial driver's license "CDL" he hauled everything from steel, rocks, turf, and even peanut butter, for over fifty years, until his retirement. George was a man of few words but captured everyone's attention with his wide infectious grin. George was an avid Washington Redskin fan. He never could get used to the new name "The Commanders." George also enjoyed watching old television programs like "Gunsmoke and The Rifleman." George accepted Christ at an early age at Lebanon Baptist Church in Gatesville, NC. He became a member of Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 2007. George married the love of his life, Mary Capehart Spencer on February 14, 2004. With her six children they became a family of eight. George was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Geneva Bowser; four brothers, John, Robert, Leslie, Shelly and Lenny; two sisters, Julie Faye and Mildred. George leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mary Riddick of the home; one daughter, Melanie Felton of Edenton, NC; five sons, Darius Capehart of Winterville, NC, Dana Capehart of Norfolk, VA, Toraina Spencer of Columbia, NC, Tristan Spencer (Royal) of Greenville, NC and Deshannon Stepney of the home; his sister, Virgina Ruffin Joyner (Vernon) of Gatesville, NC; one step-daughter, Darcy Lewis (Rick) of Winterville, NC; one step-son, Keith Trotman of Ahoskie, NC; mother-in-law, Beatrice Brown of Edenton, NC; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren that really adored him and his funny jokes and character; a very special cousin and friend, Mary V. Parker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
