George Granville Riley, age 62, of Sharpsburg KY, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at his residence. George was born October 08, 1963 in Mount Sterling KY, to the late George B. and Jeanette Riley. George was a beloved and dedicated elementary school educator in Bath County Schools for 27 years. He was a talented artist, creative and witty, but also loving and caring to all his family and friends.
He is survived by 1 brother, Chris Riley, 1 brother-in-law George Purvis, 2 special nieces, Misty Purvis and Crystal (Les) Spencer, and 3 special nephews, Brandon Riley, Hunter Riley, and Zac Riley. He is also survived by 2 special great nieces, Mackenzie(Brady) Thompson and Sierra Spencer, 3 very special great-great nephews, Colt Thompson, Clay McGuire, and Carson Thompson, and 1 very special great-great niece, Rylie Thompson. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members. George was adored by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents George B. Riley and Jeanette Riley, and 2 sisters, Debbie Purvis and Janice Withrow.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19 2025, from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Monday, October 20, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Crouch officiating.
Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg, KY.
The family wishes a special thank you to all cherished coworkers and staff at Owingsville Elementary School, past and present.
