Ritter George Aug. 8, 1947 - Feb. 5, 2025 Age 77, died on February 5, 2025 at home in Philadelphia, PA. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer. George was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. He moved to Philadelphia in the early 1970s to embark on a successful career in land planning. George loved the natural world, especially horticulture and geology. He was kind, curious, and hard-working. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and always knew just what to recommend for your garden. He was preceded in death by Andrea Mengel, his beloved wife of 44 years. He is survived by his daughter, Ann, and many wonderful friends, family members and colleagues who will miss him dearly. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George's honor to the Morris Arboretum: www.morrisarboretum.org/

I have known George Professionally for a number of years and over the last 2 or 3 as a member of the Lopatcong Township, Warren County, NJ Board of Adjustment where he was planner. I have always respected him both in his planning abilities and understandings and in areas of his knowledge. He loved Philadelphia and I have learned a lot from him. I am very sorry to see his passing and he will be missed (very much)
