George Marius Ruud

George Marius Ruud, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2025, in Shakopee, Minnesota. Born on April 9, 1960, in Minneapolis, George was the beloved son of John and Elaine Ruud.
George attended trade school and proudly built his career as a commercial painter, beginning in 1987. Over the course of more than two decades, he worked with dedication and craftsmanship before retiring at the age of 60.
Outside of work, George had a zest for life and adventure. He had a lifelong passion for riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, skiing down snowy slopes, and tackling house projects-there was always something he was building or fixing. He loved to travel, whether it was soaking up the sun on a beach or chasing fresh powder in the mountains. More than anything, George treasured time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Ruth Ruud; his children, Ashley Laudenbach (Mark) and their children, Rose and Henry; Breana Ruud; and Chad Ruud (Hayley) and daughter, Amelia. He is also survived by his brothers Donnie, Frank, Boyd, and his sister Lisa Ruud.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Edina. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. A memorial gathering will take place afterward at Hopkins American Legion Post 320 in Hopkins, MN, beginning at 3:00 p.m. All who knew and loved George are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
