George Anthony Schmidt

Schmidt, George Anthony, (Pops, Grandpops, Georgie, Schmitty) age 75, formerly of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024.
Professionally he was a member of the NALC and retired as a postal carrier. He worked in the mechanical and heating industry in the years that followed up until his full retirement.
He dabbled in many other endeavors over the years including rock climbing, ski patrol, and repossessing cars as a young adult and being a Docent at the state capitol leading guided tours in retirement. George was a lifelong student and devotee in many areas throughout his life, he is what you might call an "Old Soul" most especially of old west history involving Butch Cassidy, U.S. Wars, art appreciation and a love for classic European sports cars. These interests would often be the motive behind family vacations to visit a historical site. His interests led him to be a member of the Rose Society and the Jaguar Club of SLC. Through the years he had many hobbies including golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, antiques, art, and he picked up pickleball in his later years and played in a league.
He had the opportunity later in life to gratify his love for traveling and went with his mom to many places around the globe. George had a great love for family and would speak often of old stories and memories he had had with everyone throughout the years. He would attend events and performances as often as time would allow. He liked to keep things light and would often pull pranks and tell jokes that at times were not always appropriate, all at the expense of lighting the mood.
He was preceded in death by his spouse Faye and sister, Terri. He is survived by his mother Reva Kimball; brothers Michael and spouse Karma and Scott and spouse Sally; children Tiffany and spouse Ben, Anthony and spouse Lisa, Holly, and Schery and spouse Bradlee; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Per George's request, there will be a small graveside service for close family and he will be laid to rest at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, UT.
