George Lamar Smith

George Lamar Smith, age 83, of 1095 Kent Smith Road, Pinehurst, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Pinehurst, he was the son of the late John Sid Smith and Bunie Bowden Smith. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Midway Independent Methodist Church. Even in his later years, he stayed active. He ran a marathon at the age of 52 and enjoyed bike riding, gardening and cutting grass. Lamar loved his pets, but he cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them.

Wife of 61 years and the love of his life: Marion Smith of Pinehurst
Daughter: Amy Boyer (Ken) of Forsyth
Son: Mark Smith (Paula) of Pinehurst
Sister: Jeanne Kent of Pinehurst
Grandchildren:
Quint Smith (Jordan Moseley)
Daniel Boyer
Mandy Smith (Kyle Angermeyer)
Sarah Boyer
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Smith, Jady Smith, Dilbon Smith and Ida Wease.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, March 27 in Forehand Cemetery with Rev. Mike Bowden officiating.
The family will greet friends after the service at the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
