George Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adams Funeral Home Henryville on Jan. 29, 2026.
George Ray Smith, 86, of Otisco, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on January 28, 2026.

George was born on February 3, 1939 to Wilmer & Mary Vernon (Reynolds) Smith. He dedicated many years of his life to hard work, first as a construction worker with the Indiana Laborers Union. In addition to his trade, George was a farmer at heart, raising hogs and goats and taking great pride in the land and animals he cared for.

On May 23, 1969, George married the love of his life, Annie G. (Crowe) Smith, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Together they shared 56 years of marriage built on commitment, family, and simple joys.

George enjoyed farming, attending auctions, feeding his catfish, and watching WWE-interests that reflected his down-to-earth nature and love for routine and tradition.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Annie G. (Crowe) Smith, and his only daughter, Cora (Mike) Dunn of Pekin, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his sons, John "Wayne" Smith and Carl Ray Smith, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, Indiana, with graveside services to follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, and again on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from Noon until 1:00 PM, all at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in honor of George may be given to Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
