George H. Smudde, 95, of Glenview, IL., died Tuesday, August 19, 2025, peacefully at his home.

He was born March 21, 1930, in Colby, Wis., the son of Robert and Stella (Kreuger) Smudde. His early life and schooling were in Colby, where he graduated from Colby High School. After high school he moved to Chicago and later served in the Army. On October 24, 1959, he married Dolores McDonald. They lived in Glenview over 60 years and were long term members of St. Catherine Laboure.

He enjoyed traveling, collecting and refinishing antiques, with a focus on antique clocks, coin and stamp collecting, stock trading and could fix almost anything. After retirement, George spent 20 years as a snow bird in Florida where he enjoyed his boat and fishing. George had many memorable travels, he walked the Great Wall of China when he was 80 and the Chicago Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores; six children, Lisa Moore, Lori Smudde, George Smudde, Robert Smudde, Linda (Dan) Faber, Susan (Nelson) Wolff; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Anton (Alice) Smudde; three sisters, Emily Raczykowski, Theresa Baehler and Alvera Lukas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and Grandson, Robert Moore.

Funeral services and interment will remain private to the family.
