George "Ernie" Steele

George "Ernie" Steele, age 70, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late William Ernest and Frances Lorene Steele. Ernie had been a Northwest Georgia area resident for all of his life. Ernie loved to build street rods. He would start with what looked like junk but when he was finished it was a masterpiece of a street rod. Ernie loved going to car shows in the area and in Daytona. In the past Ernie enjoyed riding his Harley, going to Nightfall and long rides. Ernie's sons lovingly remember the times he would take them camping, tubing and rafting. Ernie always loved spending time with his family, working on their cars, and going thrift shopping with them.
Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances Steele; stepfather, John Stewart; and grandmother, Maude Steele.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Audry Darlene Steele; sons, Eric (Rhonda) Steele and Dewayne Steele, both of Ringgold, Georgia; brothers, Ronnie Steele of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ricky Steele of Daytona, Florida, and Greg Stewart of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Jake Steele and Emma Steele both of Ringgold, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm on Monday, February 12, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Dailey Hills Cemetery Ringgold, Georgia.
