George Richard Stephan, age 92, of Lake Orion, formerly of Berkley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 15th, 2025. He was born on November 1,1932 to Carl and Maude Stephan in Cherry Valley, IL. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn Stephan (née Anderson), his daughter, Deborah (James) Aras of Sterling Heights; his son, Eric (Catherine Lynn) Stephan of Clawson; and grandchildren, Trenton Stephan, Charlotte Stephan, and Nathan Stephan. George is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Bennett Stephan
George was a 1950 graduate of Berkley High School. Following high school, George joined the military and served in the Korean War. After his military service, George became a truck driver, traveling all over the country. During his retirement, George and Marilyn traveled the world together. In between trips, George kept busy with crossword puzzles, bird watching, reading, golf, and cheering on the University of Michigan football team. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities. George held unique bonds with each of his family members and friends.
Memorial visitation will Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 from 12pm until 3pm the start of the George's Celebration of Life at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Rd, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue).
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial to be made to the Berkley Public Library
