George M. Szylkonis, 75, of Blackstone, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his home.
Born in Newton on November 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph "Pete" and Catherine "Kay" (Hicks) Szylkonis, Sr.
George grew up in Medway and graduated from Medway High School in 1966. He resided in Medway for most of his life until moving to Blackstone a year and a half ago.
He worked as a mechanical inspector for many years before his retirement.
George loved music, especially Queen and David Bowie, and enjoyed making and painting plastic models.
He is survived by his daughter Dena Szylkonis with whom he resided, and his brother, Tom Szylkonis of Goodyear, Arizona.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Szylkonis, Jr.
His burial will take place privately at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in George's memory to the Arthritis Foundation, (arthritis.org).
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

Brother George was his own man. As he moves on to the other side he will join the family once more.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
