Stephen Szylkonis

Stephen Szylkonis, 71, of Medfield, Massachusetts, passed away on October 19 after complications following a fall due to a cancerous tumor and surgery. He was known to be a kind and patient man who enjoyed the simple things in life including nature, reading, music and time with his family and friends. His last days were a testament to his patience, faith and optimism in the face of life threatening challenges.
Born to the late Philip and Irene Szykonis of Medfield, Steve was a lifelong resident of the town and a devoted son. He was predeceased by his sister Suzanne and he also leaves his aunt Eileen St. Pierre of Medfield, his uncle Peter Szylkonis of Medway and his aunts Stephanie Rizzo of Newton, MA as well as many cousins. For over twenty years, he worked at Thomas Upham House as a laundry assistant, where his steady reliability and humble service earned the respect and affection of those who knew him.
Above all, Steve was a man of faith. As a committed Catholic, he had a strong devotion to Our Lady through the Rosary and a devotion to the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Steve will be dearly missed by his relatives, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor on October 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Vine Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Edward's Church.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
