George R. Torosian, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at 99 years young. George was born in Boston Massachusetts to Roupen and Julia Torosian, who emigrated from Armenia. His parents moved from Dorchester to Franklin, MA, to start a poultry farm when George was a young boy. He graduated from Franklin High School, Class of 1943, with an ambition to be a professional aviator. After high school, George enlisted in the Army Air Forces where he was assigned as a B-17 Gunner. He had tremendous pride in serving his country and being a WWII veteran. His dedication to family showed early in adulthood, as he chose to return home to help his family run the poultry farm, which he did for 35 years. He also married his wife, Rose (Kupjian) Torosian, and began to raise a family, shortly thereafter. George had a passion for golf, playing cards, and backgammon. He especially loved to play backgammon with Armenian old-timers who shared his enthusiasm of the game. He was a dedicated gardener and loved family cookouts where he took pride in his shish kebab and fresh vegetables cooked over the open pit. He was the happiest with his family and friends, engaging in lively conversations and feisty debates. George had an acumen for numbers and was a self-taught investor. He managed his own investments that supported an impressive 43-year retirement. He retired to Florida, first Cape Coral and then Palm Coast. He continued to enjoy an active lifestyle until his late 90s, and loved hosting the many family and friends who visited their home. George was preceded in death by his parents, Roupen and Julia Torosian; sisters Louise, Queenie, Elizabeth, Rosetta, Marion and Francis; and granddaughter Tara Torosian. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Rose (Kupjian); his children George (Susan); Kenneth (Deborah); Bob (Christine), Paul (Deborah) and Janet (Jeffrey); as well as 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. There will be a family service with interment TBD at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. A 40-day Requiem Service (Karasoonk) will be held at the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, Whitinsville, MA, on Sunday, October 19, 2025, during the Divine Liturgy. A memorial meal (Hokejash) will follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church of Whitinsville, https://armenianchurchofwhit.org/donations/ The family has been assisted by Heritage Funeral and Cremation Services, Flagler County, Florida.
